Optimizing Intelligent Operations in Mathematical Port Modeling: The Project Port of Cartagena de Indias
Beschreibung
Optimization of Smart Operations in Ports
by Jesús M. Velázquez-Bermúdez & Danilo Abril-Hernández
Ports serve as vital nodes in global trade, facilitating the seamless movement of goods and resources across supply chains. However, the increasing complexity of maritime logistics demands more sophisticated approaches to optimize port operations for greater efficiency, cost reduction, and sustainability. Smart port operations leverage cutting-edge technologies—including artificial intelligence (AI), mathematical optimization, and real-time data analytics—to enhance decision-making, reduce bottlenecks, and streamline logistics.
In this exploration, Jesús M. Velázquez-Bermúdez and Danilo Abril-Hernández examine how optimization techniques can transform port management. Key areas of improvement include vessel scheduling, berth allocation, cargo handling, and resource utilization. By integrating AI-driven predictive models and intelligent automation, ports can mitigate congestion, minimize delays, and enhance operational resilience.
Mathematical programming and AI-powered solutions are revolutionizing traditional port logistics, paving the way for smart, adaptive, and highly efficient maritime ecosystems. This transformation is critical for achieving sustainability and resilience in an industry that plays a fundamental role in the global economy.
