The series of standards VDI/VDE 3695 represents a support for engineering organizations (EO) in their technical, organizational and economic environment. On the basis of their classification according to a list of criteria, measures can be determined and selected to help the targeted development of the EO. This series of standards supports organizations in assessing their own current situation, gives advice on what target statuses might be desirable under the given constraints and conditions of the organization, points out possible ways (suitable or necessary measures) towards the desired target statuses, explains the causal dependencies between measures and the necessary prerequisites that make these measures work out, and demonstrates which costs, risks and chances are linked to introducing a measure. This standard describes the hierarchical framework of an organization and defines the framework conditions, which tasks are to be mastered by which employees and with which materials.
