This guideline addresses responsible executives and decision-makers in the logistics sector. It is a compendium of instruments compiled by practical experts, and is restricted to the intralogistics sector. Logistics controlling systems represent an important part of business planning and controlling, and are thus an indispensable instrument for ensuring successful business. Following guideline VDI 4490, it will be shown here that operational or strategic knowledge can only be gained by creating a correlation between the individual key figures (indicators). Logistics controlling is a process of linking the individual values in order to make it possible, by means of a target/performancecomparison, to check whether the target was reached. From there, new targets can be defined and new measures derived.
