Trim steels are provided for trimming and piercing of sheet metal parts. They are installed in dies and operated by that. This standard describes several types of trim steels according of task, optimal mode of operation, and geometrical shape. It gives an overview of peripheral interfaces, the mounting conditions, and the functionally correct removal of trimming parts from the tools. For safety process and correct rating of trim steels, the stresses, acting on the segments, were considered. To ensuring operation and running life, the right choice of materials and suitable heat and surface treatment must be carried out.The standard addresses designers, manufacturers, trainees and die operators, as well as technically interested parties and helps to meet their requirements.
