Nitrogen gas springs as used in automotive industry´s large stamping and forming dies are exposed to very high loads. Not only the forces applied are high, often the stroke length and the number of strokes are extended to the specified limits. The handling and operation instructions specified in the standard need to be followed by all users to ensure lifetime and safety requirements during operation. The standard describes operational requirements, that nitrogen gas springs have to bare up in automotive industry on the one hand and that are not to be exceeded by users on the other hand. The standard describes permitted mounting techniques and visualises false fixings using example figures. It gives maintenance instructions and describes the proper actions in the case of damages. The compliance with this standard ensures economical and save use of nitrogen gas springs.
