The guideline is intended to help the designer select the guidance mechanisms appropriate for the specific guidance task to be performed. A collection of possible solutions is provided as a way of presenting the various guidance mechanisms and at the same time setting out selection cirteria. This should ensure that the designer finds the guidance mechanism which best solves his design problem. In addition, characteristic values which can be used for evaluating and comparing different guidance mechanism are presented and explained.
