This standard describes the determination fo pentachlorophenol (PCP) and gamma- haxechlorocyclohexane (HCH) in indoor air. Pollution of humans by PCP and HCH does not take place only by staying in rooms treated with wood preservatives. PCP is used as fungicide in wallpapers, adhesions, paintings, textiles, carpets, and leather respectively as herbicide. Due to the ubiquitous distribution in our environment, PCP is incorporated by food. HCH is still used as pesticide in households and agriculture. So it is found in plant-based and especially in animal source foods where it is accumulated due to its lipophilie, as residual. There are several isomeres existing for hexchlorocyclohexane, but only gamma-HCH is used in Germany. Therefor all other isomeres are not described here.
