This standard specifies the application of ground-based passive FTIR remote sensing methods for the measurement of gaseous emissions to the atmosphere and ambient air pollutants. The standard describes three principally different methods: the measurement of gaseous compounds at ambient temperature, the measurement of gaseous compounds at high temperatures (> 70 °C), the measurement of gaseous compounds using the sun as radiation source. The standard covers principle, instrumentation, measurement procedure and evaluation of results. Furthermore performance characteristics and minimum requirements for the different instrument types are given.
