The guideline deals with human-biometeorological requirements in the framework of recreation, prevention, therapy, and rehabilitation. The purpose of this guideline is to provide uniform quality standards for bioclimate, air quality and noise, which can allow facilities to be recognised in the field of recreation, prevention, therapy and rehabilitation. The guideline thus supplements the association standard "Begriffsbestimmungen - Qualitätsstandards für die Prädikatisierung von Kurorten, Erholungsorten und Heilbrunnen" published by the "Deutscher Heilbäderverband e.V." (German Spa Association) and the "Deutscher Tourismusverband e.V." (German Tourism Association). This standard forms one of the bases for regulations according to which the German federal states control the acceptance of their health resorts, recreation places and mineral springs. The guideline considers the scientific progress in the field of human biometeorology as well as the advancement of models and methods of measurement for the determination, presentation and assessment of characteristics relevant to bioclimate and air quality. It has been designed for people and institutions that are responsible for the quality assurance of facilities in terms of recreation, prevention, therapy and rehabilitation at different levels and in different functions, and that require uniform assessment principles for this - also beyond the borders of Germany. There is further need for regulation and harmonisation beyond the German borders.
