The standard contains general principles to be applied for in-situ measurements of meteorological parameters. In particular, the measurement planning including quality control, the performance of measurements including data processing and data transfer and the evaluation of meteorological data are described. A comprehensive compilation of terms supplements the standard. It is thus a prerequisite for the application of all standards of the standard series VDI 3786 with focus on in-situ measurement technology.
