Working speeds of slewing and portal cranes for the handling of cargo, containers and bulk materials are usually determined on the basis of experiences of operators or manufacturers. The present foreground desire for a faster handling or for higher handling volumes can not only be achieved through higher working speeds. Hence, the standard contains basic concepts and parameters in several tables for clarification that are decisive for the selection of working speeds.
