Abstract

The standard addresses all manufacturing companies that are already involved with lean production systems and aim to generate further competitive advantages. Increasing competition and changing framework conditions such as shorter product life cycles and increasing individual customer requirements drive companies to transfer the principles for lean production systems to other divisions of the company. A lean enterprise represents a co-ordinated function that aims at efficiently and effectively achieving business objectives through the involvement of various stakeholders and lean principles. The standard provides practitioners with a hands-on guide on how to introduce and leverage a lean enterprise.
