In the guidelines of the VDI 2083 series, cleanliness classes are defined for the design, construction and operation of clean facilities, and ways for achieving and observing these classes are pointed out. Based on the ISO 9000 series of standards, this guideline defines the parameters relevant to quality in all fields of contamination control and describes measures necessary for quality assurance. The general statements given in ISO 9004 are adopted unless otherwise expressly provided, comments are made on their relevance to contamination control and aspects relevant to the practice in this specific field are added, where necessary.
