- Abstract
-
In the context of the increasing conservation of resources in the industrial environment of mass production, foaming is becoming more and more important. With the help of foamed plastic components, for example, the weight of a car can be reduced so that fuel/energy consumption is lowered and - especially in the case of electric cars - the range is increased. Thermoplastic foam injection moulding (TSG) can also reduce distortion and sink marks in the foamed plastic components. The material savings in foaming components also lead to a reduction in the resources required and thus contribute to reducing the component’s CO2 footprint. Foamed components are also usually materially recyclable. The standard ensures compliance with a high moulded part quality and provides the designer with a design guideline for foam injection moulded parts.
