DIN SPEC 33999 specifies requirements on test systems, on the allocation of test gas, on the testing procedure as well as on the necessary measurement equipment for the determination of the effectiveness of downstream dust separators for small and medium-sized combustion plants using solid fuels in accordance with the 1. BImSchV. This prestandard is valid for dust separators that can be retrofitted as separate component e. g. to existing firing systems. It does not apply to dust separators being an integrated part of a firing system. The range of application of the dust separator is fixed by the manufacturer. The testing of the reduction of gaseous compounds is not part of this testing standard. It does not deal with any safety aspects of dust separators. For the time being this DIN SPEC has been published as a prestandard since the presented requirements shall be subject to a validation to be effected within the frame of two research projects. After validation and feedback from practical application the document shall be transferred to a national standard serving as a basis for implementation of the 1. BImSchV.
