This European Standard describes the Standard Reference Method (SRM) with three alternative analytical techniques for determining gaseous chlorides content emitting to atmosphere from ducts and stacks. The specific components and the requirements for the measuring system are described. A number of performance characteristics with associated minimum performance criteria are specified for the measuring system. This European standard can be used as a SRM provided the overall uncertainty of the method is less than 30,0 % at a given daily Emission Limit Value (ELV) for, e. g., incineration and large combustion plants or or other HCl emitting plants. An Alternative Method to this SRM may be used provided that the user can demonstrate equivalence according to the Technical Specification CEN/TS 14793.This method determines the concentration of chlorinated compounds that give Cl--ions in the absorption solution. This Standard Reference Method has been evaluated during field tests on waste incineration. The method applies to waste gases in which chlorides concentration expressed as HCl may vary between 1 mg·m<(hoch)-3> and 5000 mg·m<(hoch)-3>.
